After reading reviews for several different lightning cable products (that probably all come from the same factory anyway), I decided to get two of these for my iPhone 5. The first one I tried inserted into the phone nicely and worked for both data and charging, with the tip flipped either way. (Some reviewers have had cables that only worked on one side.) The second cable worked on both sides, but is difficult to get into the phone and doesn't have a "click" feel when it goes in, so it makes me nervous that it might be doing damage to this ridiculously expensive piece of equipment. I can actually see little gray marks inside the slot where it's rubbing against the white (plastic?) lining in the phone. I'll probably keep that one as a backup for emergencies only.
If you look at the pictures, you can clearly see that both ends are lower quality than the Apple product, with significantly worse fit and finish. Maybe those Apple cables are worth $19 after all...

Purchased the cord for my iPhone 5; unfortunately the cord does not work at all. When connected to my computer, I receive no charge for my phone, and instead, I actually get an error message advising me to remove the cord from the computer altogether.
Learned my lesson and will buy from Apple next time.

I ordered 3 iphone 5 lightning to USB cables and to my amazement (after reading some bad reviews on this product) all three cables work flawlessly and would be happy to order again! Sort of like getting 3 for the price of one name brand cable! :)
